Emergency Management & Homeland Security Minor

Follow This Path to Lead Others in Emergencies

In times of crisis, we rely on level-headed responders who know how to manage operations during an emergency and conduct recovery efforts after an emergency. Develop these skills and more with an emergency management and homeland security minor from Post University. You’ll learn to plan for pending emergencies as you prepare for a career in emergency services, law enforcement, fire services, homeland security or disaster recovery.

Program Highlights
The emergency management and homeland security minor provide you with a foundational understanding of the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. You will gain a historical awareness of terrorism, particularly within the United States and its interests abroad, and attain an understanding of ongoing efforts to secure the homeland.

Each three-credit homeland security course leads you through the basics of emergency management and homeland security and on to more complex issues and topics in these interrelated fields:

  • Intro to Emergency Management & Homeland Security
  • Risk & Vulnerability Assessment
  • Disaster Planning & Preparedness
  • Emergency Response & Incident Management
  • History of Terrorism & Homeland Security in the U.S.

Upon completion of your homeland security training, you will be equipped to assess risk and vulnerability related to crises, such as natural and humanmade events and terrorism.

Both our Connecticut-based and online courses are taught by experts with years of experience in the field. No matter which format you choose, you will receive one-on-one support from our staff. At Post University, we do everything we can to help you achieve your educational and career goals.

Pledge to advance your degree and career with an emergency management and homeland security minor from Post University. This minor would be a great addition and specialization for our Legal Studies and Human Services bachelor degree programs. Contact us today to learn more.
