You’re an advocate for the fair treatment of animals, and you’ve dreamed of taking your passion to the next level with a legal education. With Post University’s equine law certificate program, you can prepare to pursue a career in animal rescue, lobby for equine-related legislation or run an equine business. Through specialized classes that build on your required major or minor Equine Studies coursework, you can gain a solid understanding of the current laws and regulations affecting the equine industry and be ready to apply your knowledge to the field or a law degree.

Program Highlights
Our comprehensive equine program covers the major issues of equine law, including ownership and transfer of horses and interests in horses; duties and rights of co-owners, trainers, agents, boarders, partners and syndicate managers; racing and licensing; treatment of horses; court procedures; and issues involving insurance, intellectual property, bankruptcy and torts. You will choose an elective in Business Organizations and Practice or E-Government: The New Legal Environment of Business to supplement your core classes, which include:

  • Business Law I OR Introduction to Law
  • Civil Litigation
  • Legal Research
  • Environmental Law Practice
  • Equine Law

Upon completion of our equine certification program, we will encourage you to participate in an internship to put what you’ve learned into practice.
