Is Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) a recognized certification?

The CFE is recognized in the industry as evidence of excellence in the forensic accounting profession.

How long does it take to complete the forensic accounting certificate?

The on campus* or online forensic accounting certificate requires 18 credit hours and has a normal completion time of eight months. The program provides instruction in fraud prevention and examination, criminal justice, criminal law, criminal investigation, white-collar crime, and forensic accounting. You also will have the following elective options: accounting information systems, digital forensics, or electronic investigation.

This forensic accounting certificate is not designed to prepare students for an entry level job in forensic accounting. Entry level positions in this field normally require 3–5 years accounting or criminal justice experience.
