Teaching Philosophy:

Dumont is passionate about assisting students to achieve success in their career.  Post University provides an opportunity to exercise this passion.  He likes to bring real world experience into the classroom. His favorite saying is “if you like your job, you will never work a day in your life”. To this, Dumont replies, “I never worked.”

Personal Background:

Dumont served two and one half (33 months) tours of duty with the Fourth Infantry Division in Vietnam (May 1967 to February 1970).

He is actively involved in the local community involvement and serves as Secretary, Board Member, Executive Committee Member and Chairperson of the Funds Allocation Committee of the United Way of Greater Waterbury.  He considers his greatest achievement in this area is saving the financially insolvent Waterbury YMCA from going bankrupt which allowed it to become a multimillion dollar operation in the local down town.

Dumont is married with grown children.  He is an avid runner and maintains a daily exercise routine to stay physically fit.  He collects science fiction books, pulp magazines and comic books and has written several papers on them.

Research/Academic Interests:

Dumont’s major interests are in the fraud and auditing area.  He is especially astute in regard to the “people” aspect of fraud and audits.

  • Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants

  • Institute of Internal Auditors

  • Association of Certified Fraud Examiners

  • Dumont has served as a director of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and on three different occasions has chaired their Committee for Relations with Colleges and Universities.  He is currently an active member of that committee.  In 1997 he was awarded the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants’ annual public service award.  He has also chaired a special Committee for Recruitment of Minorities into the Accounting Profession.
