Teaching Background

Simmons holds the position of Post University’s Assistant Academic Program Manager of Mathematics.  Her previous position at Post University was Associate Faculty of Mathematics and Professional Tutor in the University Learning Center.  Her course specialties at the university level are Elementary, Intermediate, and College Algebra, Business Math, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.  She has taught Business Mathematics at the University of Bridgeport during their summer session. Prior to Post, Simmons taught Middle School Mathematics for the New Haven Public School system and High School Mathematics for the West Haven Public School system.

Teaching Philosophy

Simmons’ philosophy is to make learning fun and life applicable so that learning becomes an attitude that her students develop over time. “The most important attitude that can be formed is that of desire to go on learning” – John Dewey

Community Activities

For 12 years, Simmons was an Assistant Director, Tutor and Educational Supervisor for an organization by the name of God’s Generation Ministries, Inc. For this organization, she oversaw the Educational progress of the youth in the program (middle grades to College level) and provided tutoring services, support and intervention for educationally at risk youth. Simmons was also a Secretary for a record label by the name of Montee Entertainment Group.

Personal Background

Simmons has been married for 12 ½ years to her husband Lane and has a 1 ½ year old daughter named Elita. Her hobbies include singing, dancing, zumba, watching all kinds of movies, going for walks, and spending time with her family.
