Instructional Design and Technology Concentration (MEd)

As of 2014, e-learning has become a $56.2 billion industry 1. With so much focus on online learning, educational games, and online corporate training courses, the demand for interactive learning tools and programs is growing exponentially.

With our Instructional Design & Technology concentration, you’ll be uniquely positioned to succeed in an industry with exciting career and growth opportunities being added every day. This innovative concentration integrates the skills and theories of graphic design and teaching to help you create engaging, intuitive learning experiences with the user’s experience in mind, using the latest interactive tools and techniques.

Post’s ID&T concentration is ideal for a variety of education backgrounds: independent school teachers, higher education professionals, museum educators, online educators, corporate trainers, or instructional designers/technology specialists.

In our MEd with a Concentration in Instructional Design & Technology, you’ll:

  • Develop advanced skills in the planning and creation of technology-rich learning experiences in order to meet the challenges and opportunities of online education in K-12, higher education or corporate training environments

  • Learn to integrate appropriate technology in diverse educational settings, including schools, universities, corporations, nonprofits and government agencies

  • Improve your knowledge of assessing, budgeting, and evaluating education technology


In the Instructional Design and Technology concentration within the MEd program, students will focus on a broad range of instructional design theories and practical applications that will enable them to design, develop, evaluate and implement technology-infused instruction to a broad range of participants. This concentration provides students with the opportunity to practice instructional design techniques that are applicable in many different educational environments.
