Assistant Director of Compliance

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Compliance reports to the Director of Compliance and is jointly responsible for ensuring the University is compliant with Title IV rules and regulations. The Assistant Director must have knowledge of the federal regulations and be familiar with Verification, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and Return to Title IV Funds policies and processes. This position works closely with the other managers and team leaders in Student Finance as well as other University Managers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure students who are Title IV recipients meet all federal and institutional eligibility requirements.

  • Assist with the daily workflow processes by all staff within the department.These tasks include but are not limited to timely and effective review of student eligibility, maintenance and auditing of student files for accuracy and compliance and review of verification and C-flags to ensure eligibility for receipt of federal funds

  • Possess the knowledge and skills to properly identify processes and training needs within Student Finance regarding calculating awards and packaging, verification approval, C-flag approval, and general student eligibility in compliance with Federal regulations and University policies.

  • Possesses knowledge of applicable Title IV policies, procedures, regulations and laws to ensure the University remains in full compliance

  • Ensuring data integrity by periodically reviewing input of all information as it relates to the Student Finance Office

  • Enforcing established deadlines for timely workflow to ensure all goals are being met.

  • Work collaboratively with the managers of Financial Aid and Student Accounts to assess training needs and deliver quality employee training on a regular basis

  • Assist in updating and reviewing the University’s policies, catalog and website

  • Assist with the development and management of new and current staff

  • Handle Customer Service issues and concerns that may be elevated to a supervisory level

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with in-depth knowledge of Title IV regulations

  • Demonstrate leadership skills with a strong emphasis on motivation, delegation and the effective communication of goals

  • Excellent computer skills; able to use Microsoft Office products and University systems

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.

  • Sense of teamwork, creativity and flexibility

  • Exceptional problem solving skills

  • Energetic and goal-oriented; strong interest in working in a fast paced environment that requires multi-tasking
