Sports Information Internship

Post University is currently accepting applicants for a Sports Information Internship for the 2017 school year. This is a 5-month position set to begin on January 1 and run to May 31, 2017. Interested applicants should have strong writing and creative ability and experience working in a college or university sports information office. Compensation for the position will be $6,000 for the 5-month term. 

Post University is a proud member of NCAA Division II. The athletic department is committed to helping our student athletes develop the leadership skills, discipline, and commitment to excellent performance they’ll need to succeed both on and off the field. We provide 22 men’s and women’s sports programs as a well as athletic facilities for these sports. The sports information department promotes the achievements of our student-athletes to the local, regional, and national media.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Journalism, or related field

  • Experience working in an intercollegiate sports information office

  • Excellent writing/editing abilities

  • Candidate should be highly motivated and energetic with an attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours with some travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Stat Crew software program and knowledge of sports statistics and scoring rules

  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Premier Pro

  • Prior experience with web streaming, video editing, and photography

Duties

  • Assist in producing game programs, previews, and press releases for assigned Post University athletic programs.

  • Assist with game day staffing and SID coverage for various home athletic events

  • Interact closely with Sports Information Director and head coaches within the athletic department.

  • Coordinating with local media and opposing teams to promote games

  • Provide content for Post athletic website (www.posteagles.com) and social media outlets.

  • Researching and compiling records for various athletic programs.
