We explore aspects of public service, human services, and education, helping you substantiate moral and ethical purposes and find an effective balance between academic theory and practical application. Expanding Opportunities with UPP and ELI

The John P. Burke School of Public Service and Education wants every learner to succeed. So, we innovate. Our University Pathways Program (UPP) helps high school seniors with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) more successfully transition into the college environment. And our English Language Institute (ELI) provides English as a Second Language (ESL) courses to help non-native speakers become more proficient in English before beginning degree-specific classes.

A Life of Service and Leadership

After serving in the Army and working for IBM, John P. Burke spent thirty years in Connecticut’s banking industry before serving three appointments as the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Banking.
