*Students who enroll in the Master of Science in Computer Science program who have not earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field must complete an additional 3 credits by taking MCS500 Foundations of Computer Science with a grade of B or better.

Capstone -Real World Problem Solving
This capstone course is the culminating, significant, and integrative graduate experience within the MSCS program. Students identify and execute a large-scale project that addresses an in-depth, complex, interdisciplinary problem associated with their area of specialization. The project synthesizes learning and skills in a minimum of three prior graduate courses, integrating theory, research, and practical application. Over the 8 weeks, students work on their project through prescribed milestones, proposal, review of literature and technology, design, implementation, testing, and professional dissemination, with contributions from each week’s effort directly going into the final product. Faculty mentorship and iterative peer review ensures feasibility of scope, graduate-level depth, and professional applicability.
