Teaching Background

Prior to teaching at the University level, Alisa conducted corporate training around the world on various topics of leadership.

Alisa has done training in the world of Education; training teachers to be motivators and to create programs that encourage learning based upon differentiated learning styles.

Professional Background

Alisa has been in the business world for 20-plus years, as a business owner, and in leadership positions in various organizations.  Currently, she owns a consulting and training company where she trains and consults with business on issues from Accounting and Finance to Diversity and Creativity.

Teaching Philosophy

Teaching is a collaborative process and Alisa finds it exciting to share in the learning with each new group of students. Being a true bibliophile, she reads incessantly and always finds connections between what she reads and what she experiences in the course rooms. She expects a lot from her students and that is usually what she gets. She enjoys helping her students achieve success.

Personal Background

Research and academic interests revolve primarily around how people learn and assimilate information. Alisa has a particular interest in the idea of self-regulated learning and the idea that people can learn to self-assess and not always have to rely on someone else to know if they are doing well. Recently her research interests have expanded to areas of leadership such as leading virtual teams.
