Teaching Background
York holds the position of Academic Program Manager for Higher Education Administration at Post University. She was most recently an Associate Faculty member teaching English at Post University. Since 2003, she has taught at several Universities in the areas of English, History, and Women’s Studies; most notably courses that include research methods, history of education, and diversity both online and on ground. Additionally, she has designed and taught first year experience courses and cornerstone courses.

York also brings to Post University a wealth of knowledge in the areas of enrollment and retention initiative and assessment, Title IX, and strategic planning.
Teaching Philosophy
York’s teaching philosophy is based on the simple premise that all students can learn. Believing this in this assumption, teaching is therefore, an active and engaging process through which all can acquire new knowledge, question that which has already been learned, and critically think about the grey area in between. Education is transformative, collaborative, and inclusive. It is York’s belief that that the opportunities for learning are endless and a great teacher can make anything into a teachable moment.
Personal Background
York was a college athlete, playing soccer and later, rugby. One of her greatest sports accomplishments is scoring the try in last minutes of Northeast Championship that sent her team to Rugby Collegiate National Championship. She also played for the Women’s National Football league.
York is actively involved in her local community. She serves as a youth coach for soccer and basketball, and has served as a leader of troops for the Girl Scouts of Connecticut. She is married with 8 year old twin daughters, as well as an 8 year old step daughter and 10 year old step son. Her hobbies include playing and watching sports, biking and hiking, and well, anything outdoors. York spends her free time with her family enjoying life and living it to the fullest!
Research/Academic Interests
York’s academic areas of interest are student retention and attrition in distance only learning environments. She is also interested in University enrollment and retention initiatives, Title IX compliance, and leadership.
