Ocean Conservation Minor

Oceans are the largest ecosystem on Earth. They are vital to our survival — and they need your help. The Post University ocean conservation minor provides you with the scientific analytical skills to critique negative human effects on the tropical marine ecosystem and assess creative and innovative solutions to these problems. With this minor, you can prepare for a career as a marine biologist, hydrologist or conservation advocate, as you add relevant skills to your environmental science, biology or other related degree program.
The ocean conservation minor is designed to expose you to the wonders and vulnerability of the tropical ocean ecosystem. For a total of 15–16 credit hours, your ocean conservation minor courses include:
- Exploring Environmental Issues OR Environmental Science: A Global Concern and Environmental Science: A Global Concern Lab
- Ocean Conservation and Management
- Physical Oceanography
- Coral Reef Ecology and Restoration
- Methods in Scientific Diving
You will have an opportunity to practice ocean conservation field methods and techniques during optional class diving trips to tropical waters organized by the University. (Open Water Diver certification is required to dive.)
