Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $56,000.00 Annually
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will join a collaborative department dedicated to supporting both colleagues and the overall well-being of student athletes. This role provides comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, for student-athletes competing across 20 sports at an NCAA Division II institution. This is a newly added position, expanding the Athletic Training Department to six full-time athletic trainers. This position is located on Post University’s main campus in Waterbury, CT.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Provide athletic training services for all student-athletes at Post University
- Preparation and coverage of practices, home games, and occasional away games.
- Responsible for injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, and organization and administration under the athletic training scope of practice.
- Assist with managing the daily operations of the athletic training room, including keeping updated medical records and PPE.
- Able to perform physical requirements of the job – lifting, kneeling, sitting, squatting, and standing for long hours.
- Ability to consult with Team Physician, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and other health care professionals for referrals and treatment plans.
- Assist in scheduling doctor appointments and processing insurance claims for athletic-related instances.
- Sports coverage will include 2-3 primary teams and will be determined by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Weekends, evenings, holiday hours, and some travel are required.
Minimum Qualifications & Competencies:

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training education program
- BOC certification
- Connecticut Athletic Trainer Licensed, or eligible
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Strength and Conditioning experience is a plus
Standard Five Day with some expanded weekends and/or travel.
