Assistant Athletic Trainer

Post University is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join an expanding staff. This individual will work with the four current athletic trainers in providing comprehensive care for the student-athletes at an NCAA Division II institution. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide athletic health care services including, but not limited to, prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for 22 varsity sports and two junior varsity programs. Daily tasks will include:

  • preparation and coverage of practices and home games;
  • assisting with managing the daily operations of the athletic training room;
  • assisting in the varsity team’s strength and conditioning program;
  • and assisting in keeping updated medical records and PPE’s.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will also be responsible for coordinating medical referrals, including scheduling doctor appointments, and assist in the preparation and processing of insurance claims for the student-athletes. The Head Athletic Trainer will decide team assignments. Weekend, evening, holiday hours and some travel are required.


At a minimum, the successful candidate should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • NATABOC certification
  • Be eligible or already licensed in Connecticut as an athletic trainer and maintain a current CPR/AED certification.
  • Strength and Conditioning experience a plus.
