Program Chair – B.S. Sport Management

JOB SUMMARY:

The Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University is seeking a Program Chair to join our School and lead the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management program. The individual will be required to perform three essential School functions: student retention, program management, and teaching. The position will also develop objectives and strategies to achieve program goals relating to student persistence, retention, and graduation rates. There will be other responsibilities as outlined by the Dean/Assistant Dean, but these are the position’s key responsibilities. The Sport Management Undergraduate Program Chair is a full-time position within the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business that has complete management oversight of the B.S. Sport Management Degree program, including teaching and administrative responsibilities.

Committed to a student’s first philosophy, the Program Chair must be able to assist in and contribute to developing and executing the strategic plan of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business to maximize students’ academic success and graduates’ career success. This is not a remote position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in the field of Sport Management, or related Business field (Doctorate in Sport Management or Business discipline preferred).
  • At least five years of experience working in the field of sport management, with 3 to 5 years of management experience.
  • Experience teaching in the traditional classroom and online using the Blackboard learning management system or similar programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to perform scholarly activities as appropriate when warranted or requested.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, well organized, and a team player in a fast-paced work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

General Academic Requirements:

  • Teach 6-8 courses per academic year or as otherwise determined by the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
  • Participate in at least two university committees or as otherwise determined by the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
  • Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
  • Work with a team of Program Chairs and university staff to maintain and develop the program and curricula.

General Program Requirements:

  • Developing academic concentrations, courses and/or programs, and overseeing their development as requested by the Business School.
  • Use Blackboard to develop and deliver online and hybrid courses.
  • Maintaining the online and hybrid courses under their supervision.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, and supervising of adjunct (associate) faculty.
  • Assist Associate Faculty, students, and other university staff with questions or concerns about the curriculum and program.
  • Assign instructors and monitor their performance in online and hybrid courses each academic term/semester.
  • Participate in various university committees as a Malcolm Baldrige School of Business member and as a Program Chair.
  • As warranted, assist with addressing and resolving grade appeals, grievances, or other administrative matters.
  • Assist in increasing enrollment in the program through visits to high schools, community colleges, local businesses, and professional organizations. They will also ensure admission reps and advisors are familiar with the Sport Management program.
  • Attend various university functions as a representative of the program and the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business (e.g., graduation ceremony, “open house” recruitment events, etc.).
  • Organize and participate in various administrative functions as indicated by the Business School (e.g., building and maintaining program advisory boards, program evaluation initiatives, accreditation, etc.).
  • Advise undergraduate Sport Management students in matters of enrollment and graduation.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Sport Management discipline, the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, and Post University.
  • Other projects and administrative duties as determined by the Assistant Dean or Dean.

Post University seeks Scholarly Practitioners for all faculty positions, which means we seek individuals with Terminal Degrees (whenever possible) and with 10 years or more of experience in the Field of study. In addition, we prefer to hire individuals with proven track records in teaching (preferred online and on-ground) and learning.
