You won’t find our Eagles simply making coffee, ordering supplies, or delivering lunch orders at their internships.  They’re putting their classroom learning to good use supporting major projects and initiatives for the organizations they’re interning at.  To celebrate National Intern Day, we caught up with a few students interning this summer to learn about what they’re working on and how the experience will benefit their professional success.

Drew Paskanik, Finance Major

Intern CVS

Drew Paskanik

“I am part of a vast network of about 45 finance interns nationwide and 500 interns across other business sectors. As an intern, I work in the PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager) side of CVS, working closely with healthcare financials. I have a summer-long project collaborating with another intern.

This internship is beneficial for my career in many ways. I am gaining professional experience in the world of finance and being part of a Fortune 10 company that could lead to potential full-time offers in the future. On top of the professional experience, I have also had the opportunity to network with colleagues throughout the company, ranging from other interns to Senior Vice Presidents, and everything in between, helping me build my professional network. I also hear the stories of current leaders and how they got into their roles, reflecting on what they say to use in my future and land myself in a spot like theirs.”

Megan Lombardt, Marketing and Finance Major

Intern EasyKnock

Megan Lombardt

“I am a marketing and finance intern at EasyKnock, a company dedicated to assisting homeowners in converting their home equity into cash through various tailored programs. My role involves supporting both the marketing and finance departments. Within the marketing department, I collaborate with the team to conduct market research, with one of my significant projects being the identification of suitable AI video generators. On the finance side, I work closely with the CEO to review the company’s financials and undertake various assigned projects. Additionally, I participate in several intern projects. At the end of the internship, we will make a presentation before the board of directors.

This internship is instrumental in developing my skills and gaining practical experience in the fields I intend to pursue after graduation. It provides a comprehensive understanding of both marketing and finance, enhancing my ability to contribute effectively to these areas. By working on real-world projects and collaborating with experienced professionals, I am gaining valuable insights and competencies that will undoubtedly advance my career. This experience positions me advantageously for future opportunities in my chosen field.”

Theresa Kardos, Legal Studies Major

Intern at Law Offices of Eugene A. Skowronski

Theresa Kardos

“I am working as an intern at the Law Offices of Eugene A. Skowronski. During this internship, I have assisted in various clerical tasks. I close client files. I also get to help answer the phone and take messages to communicate with clients and legal professionals.

For an estate case, I got to inquire how shares of stock can be transferred from a decedent to their beneficiaries. I have had the opportunity to go to the Waterbury Courthouse and see the jury selection process. This process, also known as voir dire, was exciting as I watched how both the defendant and plaintiff attorneys questioned the potential jurors. In the coming weeks, I will observe a personal injury trial.

This internship will be beneficial to my career. After I graduate from Post University with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies and  a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, I want to attend law school and become an attorney. I am interested in workplace, bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, and elder law. By having the opportunity to work in a law office, I have already gained so much valuable experience. Attorney Skowronski and his paralegals, Amanda and Dawn, have been incredibly supportive of my aspirations in the legal field.”

Rose Grieco, Business Administration Major

Intern Savings Bank of Danbury

  Rose Grieco

“I was hired for a part-time teller and a part-time accounting internship. I started by learning how to be a teller, which took three days of training for the company and then two weeks of training with a branch manager. For the teller work, I am doing loan payments, depositing, and withdrawing money, and tax payments. For the accounting work, I have a separate desk and computer where I work on reconciling accounts.  Every week, I am learning something new within the accounting world and how everything in the back office operates.

This internship is helpful for my career because I see how many different banking roles exist. This exposure is helping spark my interest in what I want to do. I found out that accounting is interesting, and I enjoy doing the work and problem-solving.  I also enjoy multitasking and working with teams. All these skills will help me in school and my future career.”
