Kevin Hale, chair of Post University’s criminal justice program and the former chief of the Ansonia Police Department, published an op-ed in The Hartford Courant on July 30 outlining steps Connecticut should take to address a shortage of law enforcement officers.
“The stakes are high,” he writes. “Public safety is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government, and maintaining it requires adequate staffing, strong support systems and thoughtful, forward-looking policy. Connecticut cannot afford to treat the current shortage as a temporary challenge. It is a structural issue that demands sustained attention and action.”
