Mindfulness is paying attention, deliberately and non-judgmentally to each moment of your life. Mindfulness practices can help us to increase our ability to regulate emotions and decrease stress and anxiety. It can also help us focus our attention to observe our thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Here is a simple exercise that promotes mindfulness and allows you to take a moment for yourself to be present each day:
Mindful walking: Whether it’s just getting up from your desk and going to the printer or going for an hour-long walk with your dog, here’s what you can do to bridge the gap between everyday motions and tasks.
  • Pay attention to the ground underneath your feet.
  • The shifting of your weight & pace.
  • Thoughts
  • The air around you.
  • Try to slow down, center yourself in the present moment, and walk with confidence.
Remind yourself to be in the moment…taking each step as it comes, accepting each moment and simply noticing.

“Today, you made a choice to persevere.”  That’s how Kate Hopkins, ’24, begins her reflective essay on the journey of higher education and the value she finds in learning.  Throughout her piece, which was published in the Fall/Winter 2024 issue of Post University Magazine, she shares her thoughts on why it’s important to embrace the challenges we face, and the transformative power that higher education holds.

Explore Scholarship Opportunities!

Scholarships are Important!

Scholarships provide an opportunity for students to earn an education with assistance from an outside source.

Scholarships can fill the gap. Scholarships can help decrease the amount of loans needed to complete college.  Click the button below to visit the University’s outside scholarship page to review opportunities and connect with a member of the scholarship team by calling 203.568.1652.

Your Voice.  Your Vote.

The freedom to express one’s opinions in upcoming federal and state elections is a legally protected privilege of being an American citizen that should be consistently exercised.  Therefore, Post University and its DEI Advocacy Council encourage students who are United States citizens 18 years of age or over to register and vote in upcoming political elections because every voice matters.  This year’s presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

If you have any questions about registering to vote, please contact Alyssa Fortin (Sr. AE Generalist) at [email protected] or a Council member.  And, if you are a Main Campus student, mark your calendar for the Black Student Union’s voter registration event on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
