April is Stress Awareness Month

Since 1992, April has been recognized as Stress Awareness Month.  We all experience stress – and we experience it at different levels and in different ways.  Learning to recognize stress, cope with it, and finding healthy ways to deal with the stress we experience are important parts of living a healthy and productive lifestyle.  Prolonged stress can have adverse effects on our health, relationships, and overall well-being.

Conditions linked to stress include: Behavioral symptoms include:
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Sleep and appetite disturbances
  • Cardiovascular disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Social withdrawal
  • Anxiety
  • Forgetfulness
  • Lack of concentration
  • Substance abuse

Let April be a month of wonders, surprises, and delight. Speaking of wonders and delight, did you know April is Autism Awareness Month? Celebrated every year, starting with Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, people around the country dress in blue and hang rainbow puzzles in various ways in honor of the loved ones in their lives that developed Autism. For more ways on how to make the month special or to find more information on Autism, check out the following links with #AutismSpeaks. “Together we stand for a world of difference”.

Do you have an inner Shakespeare waiting to speak to the world? Have a poetic piece or a special storyline that you’re especially proud of and would like to share it with the Post community? We’ve got the perfect opportunity! The Public Service and Education Committee would like to extend an invitation to their Open Mic Night on April 27th at 6pm EST. Join at event time here:
