Weekly Wellness Corner

The Weekly Wellness Corner is brought to you by Mental Health and Wellness Services – here, you’ll find content, tips, tricks, programs, and resources to help you thrive as a Post Eagle!

For those times when our mind wanders into the void of worry and uncertainty, when our tempers are just boiling under our skin, and when the lack of control, we feel overtakes us. We need practical and tangible stress relief activities to implement in the moment and shift us back into the present.

Here is an exercise that you can do when you want to come back to the present and lessen feelings of anxiety:

5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique

This is to bring your focus from your mind to your physical body. Look around and name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can feel, 3 things you can hear 2 things you can smell 1 thing you can taste. Finding that overwhelming? Just focus on 3 of each. 3 things you can see, you can feel, you can hear, you can smell and you can taste. The key is to bring awareness to your physical body to bring you out of your overthinking and anxiety.

5 Reasons Why You Need Handshake!

In case you missed the news, the Center for Career and Professional Development brought Handshake to Post in March.  Handshake is an online platform that connects all students to job and internship opportunities and employers across the country.  You may be wondering why you need Handshake.  We could give you a million, but here are the top 5:

  1. Competitive Advantage – Handshake is the only place that connects you, Post University, and employers together. You’ll see jobs and internships posted specifically for students, and employers actively recruiting for jobs and internships.
  2. Active Recruiters – Employers on Handshake message students with event invites, interview requests, and new job opportunities.
  3. No Experience Required – The jobs on Handshake are meant for students like you, so you can get the work experience you need.
  4. Curated Work Opportunities – When you fill out your profile, we’ll show you jobs and internships that match your interests and skills. You may even discover a new career path.
  5. Exciting Employers – Top employers are recruiting students on Handshake, including Fortune 500, startups, nonprofits, and more.

Visit the Center for Career and Professional Development in North 103 or email the team at [email protected] to sign-up for a Handshake account.
