March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!
Brought to you by Title IX and Disability Services
Over 8 million people in the United States live with developmental disabilities—conditions that challenge learning, limit mobility, and often require others’ support for daily care.
Yet, despite these obstacles, they continue to show incredible resilience and potential.
In 1987, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, bringing much-needed attention to this often-overlooked community. Then, in 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the groundbreaking Americans with Disabilities Act, further cementing the commitment to equality and inclusion.
Today, as we push for even more progressive public policies and greater community acceptance, we are witnessing a powerful shift. People with
disabilities are not only thriving, but are also making invaluable contributions across every sector, breaking barriers and shattering old perceptions in ways we once thought unimaginable.
Please join us as we celebrate March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month here at Post University! On March 11, 2025, we’ll be hosting Bree Klauser, an actor, singer, and comedian from New York who is legally blind. Bree will join us virtually at 6:00 p.m. to share her inspiring journey and discuss the importance of inclusion and intersectionality.
Then, on March 25, 2025, we invite you to stop by our Developmental Disability Awareness Table in the Leever Lobby from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to learn more about disabilities and the law, accommodations at Post University, and some other interesting facts.
This event is proudly sponsored by the Title IX and Disability Services Office, where we’re all about “Making it Personal!”
