Natalia Peña Named Program Chair for Liberal Arts

Over the summer, Natalia Pena was named the Program Chair, Liberal Arts. Many of you may recognize her – she previously served as the Assistant Director of the Honors Program.  In her new role, Natalie is excited to focus on helping students develop creative and critical thinking skills, while engaging in reflective learning.  “I hope that we can help students slow down to re-learn how to take a moment to absorb and reflect on their contributions to a more vibrant global community through an appreciation for art, history, and music,” she shared.

Natalie holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and theater from Bethany College and an MBA from Post.

Getting Personal with Natalie:

Coffee, tea, or energy drink?

Coffee and/or tea! Depends on the day and the weather. Coffee/Espresso, usually with soy or oat milk and a splash of vanilla syrup.

TV show you most recently watched?

An avid consumer of popular culture, I recently enjoyed watching Sirens on Netflix. Funny, mysterious, and a star-studded cast. Meghann Fahy, Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon – Yes please! From a literary perspective, there were a ton of easter eggs signaling parallels to The Odyssey and Greek mythology. History, literature, and culture, what’s not to love!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

In this lifetime, I will visit Japan. It has been on my list of places to visit for years. The culture and history of Japan is beautiful and fascinating. I am particularly interested in enjoying the food, absorbing the natural beauty, and experiencing Japanese pop culture firsthand.
