Expanding law enforcement training options with a flexible online recertification program, now supporting nearly 2,000 officers statewide

WATERBURY, Conn. – (September 5, 2024) – Post University is proud to announce its new partnership with the Connecticut State Police to expand its Police Recertification Program, the only asynchronous, virtual police. This collaboration will enable 955 troopers from the Connecticut State Police to complete their training online at their own pace, a crucial advantage for busy professionals managing demanding schedules. With this addition, the program’s total enrollment has now grown to 2,000 police officers statewide.

Last month, the Connecticut State Police gained access to 40 self-paced courses approved by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST-C). This setup allows officers to meet their recertification requirements with greater flexibility and convenience, ensuring they can continue to serve the community effectively and without interruption while maintaining compliance with state training standards.  To date, Post University has partnered with 38 Connecticut enforcement agencies.

“We are proud that the Connecticut State Police chose Post University to deliver such a vital program,” Post’s Police Recertification Program Director Matthew Reilly, said. “Our flexible learning modality enables law enforcement officers to complete their courses on a desktop or tablet, including their cruiser laptop. Whether they are in the field between calls or on a break, officers can engage with the course material at their own pace.”

Each course, developed by POST-C Certified Instructors, is delivered through concise training segments specifically designed for strong retention of material. The interactive platform ensures an engaging and effective learning experience for police officers allowing them to grasp and apply critical concepts efficiently.

The expanded partnership highlights Post University’s ongoing dedication to offering flexible and effective training solutions tailored to the needs of law enforcement and other partner agencies. As an online institution, Post is reinforcing its commitment to continuing education by leveraging advanced online learning tools to provide officers with relevant, accessible, and high-quality training while they continue their professional duties.

Each Post University Police Recertification course meets the POST-C review training credit requirements as approved by Connecticut’s Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST-C), Field Services Training Division.
