Award celebrates University’s licensure advising program, which offers students credentialing support from enrollment to graduation

WATERBURY, Conn. – (October 21, 2024) – The Post University Accreditation Department has been recognized by the State Authorization Network (SAN) for demonstrating excellence in developing innovative solutions to state authorization and compliance challenges. This is the University’s second consecutive year earning the prestigious and exclusive SANsational Award.

Post was recognized for its dedication to streamlining regulatory compliance processes and providing personalized support for students pursuing professional licensure. The award highlighted the Accreditation Department’s innovative licensure advising program, which provides students with personalized credentialing guidance throughout their academic journey.

Officials from the State Authorization Network will visit the Post University Main Campus in November to present the award. SAN provides guidance and support to postsecondary institutions for navigating state and federal regulatory compliance, particularly for out-of-state activities. Part of the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies (WCET), the organization focuses on helping institutions manage complex regulations efficiently.

“One recognition from SAN is wonderful, but two in a row is twice as nice,” said Post Vice President of Accreditation Tom Bryant. “The Accreditation Department raised the bar with its revolutionary advising program and remains committed to providing all students the personalized guidance they need to meet licensure requirements.”

Post’s licensure advising program led to more efficient advising, especially for students pursuing programs in counseling, accounting and nursing that require licensure. Its proprietary system currently tracks more than 100,000 licensure data points across multiple fields. Each data point is meticulously updated every six months to ensure both students and faculty have access to the most accurate and up-to-date information. For example, the system tracks nearly 84,000 data points solely for teacher certifications, as well as 8,403 “cliff note” data points that provide a concise summary of licensure requirements.

All information is then compiled and provided in an easily accessible format for students, admissions representatives and faculty. Students receive tailored advice on licensure requirements beginning during the admissions process, through coursework and after graduation. Faculty, admissions staff and academic advisors rely on the detailed licensure tracking system to ensure accurate guidance to students regarding their desired licensure.

This sophisticated tracking system helped the Post team reach 1,740 potential students and prepared and/or reviewed 90 licensure documents for submission to state agencies in 2023.
