WATERBURY, CT – (December 21, 2020) – In an effort to spread much-needed joy and celebration this year, Post University associates will present Waterbury residents with a New Year’s Day fireworks show. The extravaganza, provided by acclaimed special effects company Pyrotecnico, will take place Friday, January 1 at 6pm. The show will be live-streamed for city residents, as well as Post University students and alumni living around the world.

“We happily anticipate the holiday season each year, as it allows us to interact and engage with friends and neighbors throughout Greater Waterbury,” said Post University President & CEO John L. Hopkins. “We were disappointed that many parents and children could not meet Santa in our Bank Street lobby of Post downtown this Christmas because of social distancing protocols. In lieu of the Holiday exhibit in our lobby, the associates of Post University want to offer this display to spread joy as we all celebrate a new year filled with hope.”

The fireworks will be launched from the historic Holy Land USA theme park, allowing a high degree of visibility for residents to enjoy the show from their homes and from vantage points across the city. All spectators are respectfully asked to adhere to all social distancing and CDC guidelines while watching the New Year’s Day fireworks show. For those without a direct line of sight to the fireworks, the evening’s programming will be live-streamed on Post University’s website at www.post.edu/fireworks.

Inclement weather dates for the fireworks show are scheduled for January 2-4 at 6pm time.

The show will feature Pyrotecnico’s famous aerial display, with a unique and creative approach to fireworks choreography. The event also will include a special segment to showcase the Post University Colors.

“From opening its downtown location to supporting our newly launched economic development initiative, Post University always has championed our city,” said City of Waterbury Mayor Neil M. O’Leary. “This thoughtful holiday gesture is yet another example of the university’s dedication to our community. We look forward to ringing in the New Year with our residents and friends at Post University.”
