Kristin Roberts, EA, ABD, Post University professor Assistant Program Chair for Undergraduate Accounting was awarded Tax Professional of the Year by the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) Roberts accepted the award in Anaheim, Calif., during NATP’s annual conference, yesterday, August 6.

In addition to teaching courses, Roberts, an expert in U.S. tax codes leads The Roberts Tax Group in Torrington, Conn., and as a volunteer provides seminars for business owners through the NW CT Entrepreneurial Center at NWCC and SCORE.

“I am honored to be recognized as Tax Professional of the Year,” Roberts said. “I pursued an accounting career to serve the community and minimize the impact of changes in the tax code on individual taxpayers. As an educator, I share my philosophy with students so they understand how legislation positively and negatively influences the taxpayer.”

An NATP panel selected Roberts as the top tax professional from among the organization’s more than 23,000 members. The award recognizes a tax professional who positively represents the profession by going above and beyond in all they do “taking steps to educate other tax professionals, drive positive change through their relationship with taxing bodies, and through volunteer efforts in their community.”

The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) believes all taxpayers should be supported by caring and well-educated tax professionals. The organization’s mission is to be the most reliable resource for gaining and developing professional tax expertise.
Robert is actively involved in a variety of councils for the historic district of Torrington, along with serving as Chapter President for the Connecticut Chapter of NATP and formerly, as treasurer for the Northwest Connecticut Chamber Education Foundation.
