Bringing College-Level Perspective to Your Classroom
Post University Classroom Connect is a no-cost initiative designed for students in grades 9–12. Through faculty-led sessions delivered virtually or in person, high school students gain access to university-level academic perspectives alongside discussion of how subject areas relate to professional environments.
Presentations are aligned to complement existing coursework or introduce specialty topics drawn from faculty research and industry experience.

Unlock a Career that Powers Every Business
From startups to global corporations, accounting is the engine that drives decision‑making, strategy, and growth. Accountants do far more than balance the books. They translate numbers into insight, guide ethical business practices, and help organizations thrive in a complex economy.
30 minutes session
Professor: Richard Dumont is the program chairperson of the accounting program at Post University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has spent much of his career in public accounting firms and financial institutions. At Post University he is very active in many facets of administration and actively participate in numerous committees an efforts. He has been a a director of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, and chairperson of several committees to include Relations with Colleges and Universities, Financial Institutions, and Recruitment of Minorities into the Accounting Profession. He has a long history of public service as a director of the Waterbury Connecticut United Way and YMCA. Right out of high school he served 33 months with the Fourth Infantry Division in Vietnam and then went to college. He is very interested in helping students select a career that will provide an enjoyable and financially rewarding future.
A Writer's Life
Writing is a way of life. In this workshop, students are introduced to an author, create original writing, and find their voice. Through participation, students learn that writing connects them to their creativity and is a skill that they can enjoy in and out of school.

Professor: Lisa Acerbo is an award-winning author of books, short stories, essays, and poetry, including Death and Coffee, released by NineStar Press on October 14, 2025, and The Stream, released in January 2026. Recent stories are also available in two anthologies, Universe in a Bottle and Whatever Happened to Hansel and Gretel. Her new book, The Netherworld Witch, will be released in 2026.
Best Practices for High Achieving College Students
This presentation will provide an overview of best practices that define Honors-level students. Topics reviewed will include professional written and verbal communication, business etiquette, and the benefits of getting involved in cocurricular opportunities.

This session will be presented by Caitlin Grant and Lindsey Scorey:
Caitlin Grant is a higher education professional with 16 years of experience spanning multiple departments at Post University. Caitlin joined the Honors Program Team in early 2020 as Assistant Director and helped establish and grow the online Honors Program from 45 to over 1,800 students. In 2023, she was promoted to Honors Program Director and currently oversees both the campus and online Honors Programs with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success.
She contributes to the broader educational community by sitting on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Career Counseling and Development Association. She is also a member of the Greater Waterbury Steering Committee. Caitlin has presented at multiple regional and national conferences, sharing her expertise on the intersection of workforce readiness, honors education, and student community and support.
Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Albertus Magnus College and a Master of Science in Journalism from Quinnipiac University. She serves as an Associate Faculty member in the Department of Communication and Media Studies, where she has taught courses for nine years.
Lindsey Scorey is the Assistant Director of the Campus Honors Program at Post University. She has a deep commitment to higher education with a particular focus on supporting students as they strive to achieve their full academic and personal potential. Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing, with a concentration in Creative Nonfiction. She is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing with a specialized track in teaching.
