Certifying your Enrollment and Degrees
Post University provides the National Student Clearinghouse enrollment information for verification by agencies such as your student loan lenders and In-School Deferment Request Form . Each month, Post University submits an enrollment report to the National Student Clearinghouse which, in turn, supplies enrollment verifications to outside agencies.

Why is this important?
The Enrollment Verification service offered through the National Student Clearinghouse provides immediate confirmation that you have graduated or are still enrolled at Post University. This information is required by student loan servicers, especially if you are requesting a loan deferment or otherwise need to verify that you are still enrolled at Post University Enrollment Verification also is something that may be requested by an employer or another university.

Am I eligible for a loan deferment?
If you have federal students loans from your time at Post University or any other college or university, you are eligible for a loan deferment as long as you are enrolled at least halftime at Post University.

How do I obtain a deferment?
Paperless deferments are a convenient way to process your request. Most lenders and loan servicing organizations that use the National Student Clearinghouse also participate in our paperless deferment process. With this process, no paper forms are required to complete the loan deferment process. You simply call your loan servicer to request a deferment. Once your information has been confirmed by the National Student Clearinghouse, the servicer will post the deferment to your account.

Find your lender or servicer contact information by logging into https://nslds.ed.gov/ or https://studentaid.gov/

Paper deferment
If your lender requires a paper deferment form, please contact your Tuition Planner or Student Finance Specialist directly at 800.345.2562. Post University requires all information within the deferment form to be completed including all loan servicer information.

Upon completion of the deferment form, Post University’s Financial Aid department will forward all deferment forms on a weekly basis to the National Student Clearinghouse. Post University does not provide this information directly to lending agencies. If you registered late or had an exception processed to your term registration, this information may not be reported until our next Clearinghouse submission.

I have received a repayment or late payment notification. What should I do?
If you are still enrolled at least half-time and you receive a late payment notice from a servicer, you should:

  • Call your lending agency to see if they have recently received a deferment form from the National Clearinghouse. It’s possible that the form arrived after the repayment notice was sent to you.
  • If after calling your servicer it still appears that your deferment was not processed, call the Clearinghouse at 703.742.4200. A Clearinghouse representative can verify through these steps:
    • The date they received the deferment form
    • When the deferment was certified
    • When your enrollment status was certified
    • To which lenders and guarantors your deferrable status was reported

If the Clearinghouse is not able to confirm the deferment processing, then they will intervene on your behalf by faxing another enrollment certification to your servicer. The Clearinghouse also will work with your servicer to ensure that the form is processed on a high-priority basis.

Who Participates in the Clearinghouse?
All guarantors and most major student loan lenders and servicers (including servicers for Perkins, private/alternative, and institutional loans), as well as the Department of Education, participate in the Clearinghouse.
