With our accelerated format, you’ll take courses in 8-week modules, six times a year. Login times aren’t set, so you truly have the freedom to learn on your own time.

An MSHSV from Post is a valuable education that’s also very affordable, with financial aid available for those who qualify. You may also be able to earn credits toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.*

Students in the Master of Science in Human Services degree program at Post University gain knowledge in the areas of prevention, remediation, psycho-education, diagnosis, assessment and intervention.  This interdisciplinary curriculum helps students make an immediate and long-term impact with the people they serve. Students gain the operational knowledge, analytical skills and experience necessary to assess a problem and apply a solution quickly and competently.  Students  can  choose  a  concentration  in  the  following areas:  Alcohol  and Drug Counseling , Clinical Mental Health Counseling,  Forensic Mental Health Counseling, and Non-Profit Management.

Graduates are prepared to hold jobs in a wide variety of settings including mental health facilities, corrections, halfway houses, child and family service centers and geriatric facilities.

Alcohol & Drug Counseling Concentration

Post University's Master of Science in Human Services degree with a concentration in Alcohol and Drug Counseling is designed to meet the educational needs of individuals who seek to advance their skills and career options or find employment in this growing field.

Our Master of Science in Human Services degree with a concentration in Alcohol and Drug Counseling degree combines the strengths of a traditional New England University education with the convenience and flexibility of online learning. You will benefit from regular contact with and feedback from professors, as well as the opportunity to learn from and interact with other working professionals. Our highly interactive online classes are offered in eight-week modules, six times a year, making it possible for you to complete your Master of Science in Human Services degree with a concentration in Alcohol and Drug Counseling in less time without sacrificing quality.

The Post University MSHSV program affords students the opportunity to take additional coursework toward licensure eligibility, but it is not a licensure program. As licensure is a professional process, it is up to each student to fully understand the licensure process as it varies from state to state and area of specialization. The faculty and staff in the MSHSV program are here to support and advise students on program requirements, but it is ultimately the responsibility of individual students to be in charge of his/her own licensure process and to make sure that all requirements are met in obtaining licensure. Clinical Mental Health Counseling

With Post University, you can earn your Master of Science in Human Services degree in as little as 18 months. The Master of Science in Human Services is a 37-credit hour program designed to meet the educational needs of individuals who seek to advance their skills and career options or seek employment in a wide variety of human service positions. Courses are offered in 8-week modules starting six times per calendar year.

The Master of Science in Human Services degree with a concentration in clinical counseling within organizational settings allows students to acquire the conceptual, analytical, and operational knowledge to assume new or more advanced positions in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Our Master of Science in Human Services degree with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling combines the strengths of a traditional New England University education with the convenience and flexibility of online learning. You will benefit from regular contact with and feedback from professors, as well as the opportunity to learn from and interact with other working professionals. Our highly interactive online classes are offered in eight-week modules, six times a year, making it possible for you to complete your online Master of Human Services Degree with a concentration in Clinical Counseling in less time without sacrificing quality.

Forensic Mental Health Counseling Concentration

This concentration is designed to provide students the opportunity to develop the theoretical, analytical, and clinical skills necessary in providing counseling services when working with juveniles or adults involved with the justice system.  Students will explore the concepts related to criminal behavior and psychopathology, forensic assessment, and victimology as a way to understand how the judicial system and field of human services interfaces.
