About Post’s Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Program
Can you get college credits for work and life experience? Yes! You can potentially save time and money earning your degree at Post University through our Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Program. This program allows students to earn undergraduate college credit for work experience and certain other life experience. Through these prior life and work experiences, degree completion can be achieved in less time and at a cost savings.
Undergraduate students in our Prior Learning Assessment Program can create and submit portfolios showcasing prior experience that can qualify for up to 30 credits toward a bachelor’s degree or up to 15 credits toward an associate’s degree. RN to BSN students can earn 30 college credits through our PLA program for the successful completion of a registered nursing program and passing the National Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses along with verification of valid RN licensure.
PLA Program Details and Requirements
Post University is a college that gives credit for work experience, or certain other life experiences, through our Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Program. Undergraduate students can qualify for
- up to 30 credits toward a bachelor’s degree
- up to 15 credits toward an associate degree
RN-to-BSN students can earn
- up to 30 credits in recognition of having completed a registered nurse program and passing the National Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Verification of valid RN licensure will be required to receive PLA credit.
Portfolio Development Course / Portfolio of Prior Experiences
Students will work with our Admissions Counselors and enroll in our Portfolio Development Course to create a portfolio of prior experiences that, upon review, can qualify you for college credits. In addition to portfolio submission, successful completion of certain licensure examinations could be required to earn college credits.
Who is eligible for PLA credit?
Eligible, matriculated, undergraduate students can qualify for college credits by submitting prior experience portfolios through the PLA Program Portfolio Development Course and if required successful completion of certain licensure examinations.
Information regarding policies and procedures is available from Academic Advising for Main Campus students or Academic Success Counselors for Online (Accelerated Degree Program) students. There are certain courses and subject areas that are not eligible for portfolio credit. Please consult the Office of the Registrar or Academic Advising to review any restrictions.
