Military Line Student Ethics Scholarship

The Connecticut Better Business Bureau Military Line Student Ethics Scholarships recognizes “college-bound students and adult learners who are children or spouses of a military member.” Eligible students should “personify high ethics demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall integrity, and academic standing.” Students and adult learners may apply as early as their senior year of high school or as late as the end of college freshman year; the applicant must be a resident of Connecticut. The criteria for the award includes: Leadership 20%, Community Service 20%, Academic 30%, Essay 30%.

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

Deadline: February 1, 2021 for Renewal Applications & May 3, 2021 for New Applications
Award Amount: Various

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund is available for students ‘enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours) and pursuing a bachelor’s degree for the first time.’ Applicants must be a United States citizen or noncitizen who has a current lawful presence in the United States and a work permit, permanent resident of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

In addition to the on-line application form, the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA, Financial Aid Award letter, formal essay, several short essays, resume, and transcripts from current college students are required. See scholarship award limitations on the website.

The Roothbert Fund Scholarship

Deadline: February 1, 2021 
Award Amount: $5,000-$7,000 (per year)

The Roothbert Fund Scholarship aims “to help men and women in need of financial aid to further their education.”  The Fund “seeks to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values.”  Preference will be given to undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least 1 year of study, who can satisfy high scholastic requirements and are considering careers in education. The Connecticut Better Business Bureau Diverse Student Ethics Scholarship is offered to a college-bound high school student “who is a member of a diverse group. The Ralph Carter Art Scholarship

Deadline: February 5, 2021
Award Amount: $5,000

The Ralph Carter Art Scholarship supports underrepresented student groups in the arts and is “designed to assist students in making their dream of attending college a reality.” The scholarship is open to applicants who are pursuing a degree in the arts, are “at least one of the following ethnicities: African American, Native American, Hispanic, Latino, or Asian & Pacific Islander”, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Applicants can be a high school senior or be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.  See scholarship award limitations on the website.

New England Employee Benefits Council Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2021
Award Amount: $5,000

The New England Employee Benefits Council (NEBC) strives “to further the aims of the Council to advance the knowledge and education of individuals in the employee benefits field, or those aspiring to careers in employee benefits.” Applicants must be a full-time or part-time college student (undergraduate or graduate), studying in an accredited academic program leading to a degree and residing either in New England or enrolled in a college in New England.  See scholarship award limitations on the website.

Award Amount: $5,000

The Richard E. Taber Citizenship Award Scholarship honors high school students living in the Fairfield County that “consistently demonstrate good citizenship at school, at home, and in the community.”  The scholarship is designed to “recognize and encourage young people who are honest, hard-working, helpful and fair.” Applicants must hold a “B” average or higher during his or her junior and senior years in high school.  See scholarship award limitations on the website.

Award Amount: Up to $20,000 (over 4 years)

The Milton Fisher Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity is not a “traditional scholarship focused on rewarding academic achievement and financial need.” The goal is to reward and encourage innovative and creative problem solving and “aims to honor students who excel as creative problem-solvers….” Eligible applicants must be a high school junior or senior, entering an undergraduate degree program in the fall or in the first year of an undergraduate degree program.  Applicants must be a Connecticut or New York City metropolitan area resident planning to attend or attending an institution of higher education in the U.S., or a resident of the U.S. planning to attend or attending an institution of higher education in CT or NYC. The Chairish ‘Design Your Future’ Scholarship

Deadline: June 30, 2021
Award Amount: $2,500

The Chairish ‘Design Your Future’ Scholarship is designed to support students from “diverse backgrounds and students who are majoring in design-related fields such as architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and engineering fields.” Graduating high school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate students of any major are encouraged to apply.  A minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA is required.
