April is Stress Awareness Month! Feeling stressed, but not sure why? Stress is a natural part of college and helps us to grow as individuals and learn to better combat it in the future. Learning to recognize stress, cope with it, and finding healthy ways to deal with the stress we experience are important parts of living a healthy and productive lifestyle. Marc Maignan Selected as Recipient of 2023 Burke Community Hero Award
Marc Maignan, an elementary school art teacher, was selected as a recipient of the Burke Community Hero Award in 2023. An achiever whose tireless efforts in social advocacy, art education, and nonprofit fundraising have provided social change and uplifted countless lives, Marc’s artistic talents has earned him acclaim, with his works showcased in venues such as the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles Art Exhibit. Marc’s generosity extends beyond the canvas and the screen. His dedication to uplifting others is real, as demonstrated by his initiative to create personalized portraits for graduating students, earning him the recognition from St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services Employee of the Year Honor, where he has also worked as an instructional aide for over 15 years. Established in 2020, the Burke Community Hero Award is presented to individuals or organizations whose endeavors reflect a profound dedication to serving others, echoing the civic spirit and namesake John P. Burke.
