Recipient of SANsational Award for Compliance InnovationWATERBURY, Conn – (October 12, 2023) – Post University was one of four schools in the country to receive the 2023 State Authorization Network’s SANsational Award, given to schools for their efforts in developing comprehensive solutions to challenging state issues. Along with The Chicago School (CA), Sinclair Community College (OH), and University of Louisville (KY), Post University was recognized for its innovative approach to regulatory compliance.

Post University’s Accreditation Department, guided by Shawn Fields, developed a comprehensive program designed to guide and support students when they are in a field of study that leads to professional licensure. From the start, students are provided personalized credentialing advice before, during, and after their enrollments by a four-person team of credentialing specialists. The other members of the team who work with Fields are Chrissy Adamczyk, Alex Larsson and Melissa Pilloise.

This team actively tracks 721 different credentials and has worked with over 4,200 prospective students who need licensing information. The team sweeps through all state statutes, regulations, and forms every six months to update their tracking sheets. They work with state boards or professional organizations that require preapprovals before a student applies for a license. They are also in close communication with University program chairs regarding curriculum.

According to the State Authorization Network, works recognized by the SANsational Awards present solutions that meet the needs of regulators, the institution and the students. These efforts serve as models which can be adapted or replicated by others.

Navigating the complexities of licensure requirements can be daunting for students, especially for online students, often leaving them feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. However, with the introduction of this new program in 2020, students are now equipped with a structured and reliable roadmap. Beginning when they embark on their educational journey, they receive advice and guidance tailored to their specific field.

“At every milestone, from coursework and exams to practical training and application submissions, the program ensures that students are well-informed and well-prepared,” Accreditation Vice President Thomas Bryant explained. “I am enormously proud of Shawn Fields and his dedicated specialists who bring a wealth of patience, knowledge, and experience to students seeking clarity and direction.” The program’s holistic approach, which begins with the admissions team, fosters academic success and confidence in the licensure process.

The comments from students who worked with the Accreditation Department are proof of the team’s support and encouragement they offer students.

“Thank you both for assisting me on my Master of Science in Counseling and Human Services journey. I submitted all my documentation to the Virginia Board of Counseling, and I am officially a Resident in Counseling! Next step: complete 3,400 hours of supervised residency and pass the Board Exam.

“I just wanted to thank you for all your discretionary effort toward my licensure. I was awarded my LPC-A, and have now been approved to sit for the IC&RC exam, the last step toward LADC. I could have NEVER dreamed of accomplishing this with all of your help. Shawn, thank you for putting up with me

over the years when I so wanted to quit, you kept pushing me forward. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Post University.”

This program also underscores the Accreditation Department’s dedication to producing professionals who are academically proficient and equipped to thrive in their careers. By offering guidance and support beyond the classroom, the department is shaping well-rounded individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to their respective fields.

SAN officials visited Post University’s main campus in Waterbury today, October 12 to present the award.
