Kathleen Takita
Kathleen Takita, a junior at Post University, was named as a Fulbright-MITACS Globalink Fellow in Canada. This was the first time the academic exchange organization offered the program to undergraduate students and the first time a Post student has been selected for a Fulbright program.
A passionate advocate of the LGBTQIA+ community, Takita, an honors student from Burrillville, Rhode Island is studying for her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She plans to pursue her master’s degree in social work in 2021.
After hearing about the program in late fall, Takita acted quickly to gather all the necessary information for her application, including submitting curriculum vitae, personal statement, and two professional letters of recommendation along with her official transcripts.
In February, she received the exciting news that she would be part of the inaugural Fulbright-MITACS Globalink Research Program summer program. Takita was excited to represent the University in this prestigious program. “I couldn’t have done it without mentors like Ms. Kobylarz and my professors who guided me in this process,” said Takita.
Sadly and understandably, the global concerns surrounding COVID-19 that have cancelled many programs across the country also shuttered the research program in Canada.
Nonetheless, The University is immensely proud of Kathleen Takita and her commitment to make the world a better place and contribute to our communities in meaningful ways. Way to go, Eagle!
